Meet the world-beating team behind a new generation of photovoltaic and renewable energy research

PROF XIAOJING HAO
Professor, ARC Future Fellow
Associate Professor Xiaojing Hao is the director of our research group based out of the University of New South Wales. Having completed her PhD at UNSW in 2010, Xiaojing swiftly went on to found and lead the kesterite CZTS solar cell research group at the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) a year later. The following years were marked by several breakthroughs in the then novel CTZS material, as well as the award of an inaugural fellowship from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). Parallel to achieving world-record efficiencies for CZTS based solar cells in 2016 and 2018, she was appointed senior lecturer at SPREE in 2015 and became an inaugural UNSW Scientia Fellow in 2017. Under her leadership, the group has attracted over 23M AUD in grants and funding. On a personal level, she has written over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles, 12 conference papers and given over 40 conference presentations with over 5200 citations between them. Professor Hao has grown her once personal research endeavour into a world beating group of scientists and heads a team whose research goals now span multiple fields.
